Inspiration
Everybody is Born "Inspired"! It is not something that has to be Engendered!
It "Is" though Something that Sometimes Needs to Be "ReKindled" from Time to Time. Especially in The Political Arena... The Inspiration for Participatory Government is in Dire Need of Some Serious Inspirational FIRE!
Anybody Got a Match??? :)
Ya Know... When I tell People that I am Running for Mayor of Cairo... They look at Me Funny (as if I am Joking) and Say "Why Would You Want To?" When I tell Them "Because I Can Make a Difference and Effect Positive Change"... They Say "You can't change Cairo... It's a Lost Cause"! That's when I Say "Vote for Me... and I'll Prove You Wrong"! Of course, if they Don't Live in Cairo I Say "Well, What The Hell Do You Know Anyway"! :)
There are Many Reasons Cairo is In The Shape It Is In! And while it is Easy to Place "Blame" on People, Places and Things... The Answers to The Question "Whose Fault Is It" are very difficult to come by. All we really get are "Opinions"... and you know what they say about those? Not that it Isn't Important to Understand Our Past... because it very much is. But many of Our Present Problems do not Require Understanding of Those Problems... They Require Understanding of Our Future! In Fact... Dwelling too much on The Past... can Hinder Our Future! I am Concerned More at this time with The Present... Our Assets... and The Directions We Need and perhaps "Have" to take to Progressively Grow Cairo... and Do So with Integrity and Self Respect!
As Mayor...
I Will Give The People of Cairo a "Reason" to Be Inspired!
Apathy is a Result of Not Having The Ability to Effect Change... to Be Left Out... Ignored and Discounted... Denied and Oppressed! Inspiration Comes from Just The Opposite!
I Will Give The Citizens of Cairo a Voice... and The Power to Be Heard! I Will Create a Means of Participation with City Government... and Become Actively Involved in It's Purpose and Mission. I Will Encourage Our Local Medias (Newspaper and Radio Station) to take more of an Active Part in being more "Representative" of Everyone... and The Activities and Issues Relative to Cairo. And... That's Just The Beginning! :)
